On Sunday, October 20, the Veneto Classic 2024 will kick off from Soave (VR) and finish in Piazza Libertà, Bassano del Grappa (VI), after 195 km of racing. The course features two ascents of La Rosina, five of the La Tisa ‘Wall’, and the steep Diesel Farm climb.
This visually stunning race through the Veneto region brings the curtain down on both the international pro cycling season and the Ride the Dreamland series. With its challenging and varied route, the Veneto Classic has quickly become a prestigious end-of-season event, with some of the world’s top riders doing battle over climbs, cobblestones, and gravel roads.
Starting in Soave, the route heads towards Vicenza, tackling the Monteviale climb and also passing through Sandrigo, home of race organizers PP Sport Events. A sprint in Nove will honour Jacopo Venzo, a local junior rider who tragically passed away last year. The race will then arrive on its signature roads, beginning with the 12.6 km La Rosina circuit, featuring a 2.1 km climb with a 6.5% average gradient, to be repeated twice.
Next is the La Tisa circuit in Colceresa, with a short but vicious 330-metre cobbled climb at 15.2%. The riders will tackle this leg-buckling ramp five times. A special Tisa Party zone with beer, burgers, and a DJ set will bring a Tour of Flanders-style atmosphere to the race as fans cheer on the riders.
The final challenges come with the 1.3 km gravel climb at Diesel Farm (average gradient 10.9%), followed by the short, sharp Contrà Soarda (400 meters at 13%), where last year’s winner, Davide Formolo, launched his solo attack. The peloton will then sweep into Bassano, over the Ponte Nuovo bridge and towards what is sure to be a dramatic finish in Piazza Libertà.
